On 12 September, Sadiqoun general-body member Hakim Atiya al-Muhammadawi said PMF headquarters had not been warned before attacks and noted AAH secretary-general Qais al-Khazali’s respect for PMF chairman Faleh al-Fayyad. Later, Sadiqoun member Ahmed Adnan alleged that the law was withdrawn over provisions applying Faleh al-Fayyad’s age, while political researcher Abbas Ghadeer called for the PMF chairman to leave politics and alleged electoral exploitation of security institutions. Ahmed Adnan also said the law was “90 percent settled,” that Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi had adopted it before the State Administration Coalition and that political forces largely supported finalising it.
