Iraq’s armed factions and their media channels claim attacks, casualties and arrests every day. For each claim we check whether the same event is reported outside the militias’ own channels — by Iraqi or international media, official statements or monitoring groups. This page counts, channel by channel, how many of their claims were.

What this measures, exactly. Only 180 of 25,922 checked claims were contradicted by outside reporting. So this is not a lie detector, and the rate is not a truthfulness score. It measures how often a claim is also reported outside the militias’ channels — and a claim can go unreported because Iraqi coverage is thin that week, not because it is false.
