On 16 September, Alhurra reported that sources familiar with contacts before PMF chairman Faleh al-Fayyad’s 1 May meeting in Ankara said he sought to discuss transferring personal funds and property to Turkey. The sources alleged that Qatar had refused to retain his property and money after pressure on his financial transactions because of his proximity to Iran; Alhurra’s report said Ankara rejected the request. The account relied on unnamed informed and Turkish Foreign Ministry sources.
