WHAT HAPPENED

On 10 September, Hamid al-Musawi, spokesman for the Badr parliamentary bloc, said deputy-prime-minister posts were included in the political agreement within the Coordination Framework and State Administration Coalition and that Badr supported voting on them. He described Laith al-Khazali and Mohsen al-Mandalawi as good additions; AAH secretary-general Qais al-Khazali separately said Mohsen al-Mandalawi had rejected a ministry because he wanted a deputy-prime-minister post.

WHY IT MATTERS

Badr’s support broadens the appointment campaign beyond AAH’s own media and political network, while leaving the exact allocation and portfolios unsettled.
