On 10 September, AAH secretary-general Qais al-Khazali said the Peshmerga obeyed the Kurdistan Region’s political leadership rather than Iraq’s commander-in-chief and said AAH would pursue separating that political leadership from the force. Hamid al-Musawi, spokesman for the Badr parliamentary bloc, speaking on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official), said the bloc would challenge the Kurdistan Region presidency law before the Federal Supreme Court and demanded that the Peshmerga be included in separating armed forces from political parties.
