On 21 September, PMF military-media director Muhannad al-Aqabi was reported saying faction weapons would be reorganized under federal supervision rather than surrendered. Later reports carried Abu Alaa al-Walai, KSS secretary-general, saying resistance forces sought no personal or political demand, placed no interest above Iraq’s, and prioritized sovereignty, national decision-making, independence and rejection of foreign tutelage.
