On 21 September, Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi was reported setting an initial 90-day period during which factions would neither attack nor face U.S. attacks, after which weapons handovers would begin; he set 30 June 2027 for completion. Shortly after midnight, Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) carried Hashim al-Husseini, deputy head of the Academy for Political Development and Good Governance, saying weapons control was exclusively an Iraqi matter and would not be raised at the United Nations.
