WHAT HAPPENED

On 22 September, Sadiqoun MP Riyadh al-Tamimi (AAH), speaking on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official), called weapons regulation a national demand but said factions sought guarantees preserving sovereignty and did not trust Washington. Reconstruction and Development Bloc MP Mansour al-Baiji, speaking on the same channel, said regulation would begin on 30 September, could take six months to a year and would lead to weapons handover once the United States complied; Mohammed Talab of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition had specified complete coalition and Turkish withdrawal among the requested guarantees. Nujaba military deputy Abdul Qadir al-Karbalai separately said the resistance and PMF would remain and would not bend or retreat.
