On 5 November, Deputy Prime Minister for Services Leith al-Khazali said on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media) that 7,000 dunams in Baghdad were ready for a modern-cities project and that the prime minister hoped to increase the allocation. He said the prime minister had assigned him oversight of the Watan Initiative, modern cities and the fourth ring road; he described his authority as submitting recommendations, with final decisions remaining with the prime minister. He also said work had begun ten days earlier and would address stalled projects.
