WHAT HAPPENED

On 13 September, iNEWS (KSS — affiliated) carried State of Law Coalition spokesman Aqil al-Fatlawi saying the American side strongly rejected Sadiqoun deputy-premier nominee Liath al-Khazali. Sadiqoun MP Riyad al-Tamimi replied that no American veto applied to Sadiqoun posts and said Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi refused to complete the cabinet without Sadiqoun participation. The same programme framed the disagreement as a struggle over State of Law and Sadiqoun entitlements; Wisdom Current MP Ahmad Salem al-Saadi separately said cabinet completion before 30 September would be difficult.
