WHAT HAPPENED

Political-affairs researcher Khalid Abu Iraq said on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) that Sadiqoun’s seats qualified it for the Interior Ministry and that 11 of 12 Coordination Framework members had approved four deputy-prime-minister posts. Al-Ahad TV repeated his possible Interior Ministry allocation late on 13 September, although Shafaq News reported that the deputy-premier issue remained on the agenda of future Framework meetings after Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi mediated a dispute between Nouri al-Maliki and Qais al-Khazali, AAH’s secretary-general.

WHY IT MATTERS

The possible Interior Ministry allocation is more advanced in the AAH-owned outlet’s account than in reporting on the continuing Framework negotiations.
