Al-Janoub TV (Harakat al-Jihad wal-Bina — official owned media) carried Maysan Provincial Council chairman Mustafa al-Duair’s deadline of Thursday to reopen the crossing, with widespread demonstrations if it remained closed, and Maysan council member Ali Jasib al-Zidawi’s demand for reopening without delay. It also relayed the Badr parliamentary bloc’s statement that closure had damaged livelihoods and increased public discontent, coupled with its demand that protection of public money apply to everyone without exception.
