On 26 October, Al-Janoub TV (Harakat al-Jihad wal-Bina — official owned media) carried Maysan Provincial Council Presidency spokesman Hakim Atiya’s appeal to Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi to reconsider Shib’s closure because of its economic and livelihood importance. The channel also carried a reopening gathering involving Bu-Muhammad tribal sheikh Saif al-Aribi, while iNEWS (KSS — affiliated/aligned media) quoted Maysan Provincial Council spokesman Hakim al-Muhammadawi saying closure of the crossing with Iran directly harmed Maysan residents.
