Badr Organization Secretary-General Hadi al-Amiri, in a message carried in the early hours of Friday by Badr's own Al-Ghadeer TV and Watan TV, asked the Islamic Resistance in Iraq to postpone any response to what he called the American-Saudi aggression that struck Iraq, promising the families of the dead their rights would be pursued diplomatically for now. Within the same day the State Administration Coalition, the ruling bloc's coordinating body, warned armed groups to lay down weapons by 30 September, and Baghdad declared that militia activity after that date falls under the anti-terrorism law — a text state media republished as security forces entered 'high readiness'. Prime Minister al-Zaydi ordered higher military readiness as tensions rose and forces went on alert over feared militia attacks on US and Saudi interests. A government spokesman said Baghdad itself requested the Syrian border buildup and that there is no proof of attacks on Saudi targets launched from Iraqi soil.

Sabereen News, a channel close to Kataib Hezbollah said the response al-Amiri deferred was aimed at "the Saudi entity." Shabab al-Islam, a channel run by Ashab al-Kahf, went further: it said al-Amiri "calls for targeting Saudi Arabia." No Badr Organisation account carries that phrase. Three Badr accounts quote al-Amiri directly, and none of them use it.

On the economy, Iraq's projected budget deficit has climbed to 80 trillion dinars on an oil export slump, with Brent settling at 88.9 dollars a barrel, down 8.3% on the previous settlement as measured by the desk's daily series, and the electricity shortfall passing 35,000 megawatts. Al Jazeera, canvassing officials and economists, asks whether the country is entering a phase of lean years, while parliament moves to address the worsening deficit.

Still on the economy, the Kurdistan Regional Government says Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum breached contract by supplying Khor Mor gas to Baghdad's electricity ministry, says it did not approve those supplies and warns of legal action. Over the same Kurdistan asset base, Genel Energy on Friday morning rejected DNO's takeover proposal.

Amwaj argues that Iraq's rapprochement with Syria makes Baghdad more valuable rather than more exposed, and Rudaw reports that efforts to fill the remaining cabinet posts are expected to gain pace next week. The head of the census commission separately warned of population changes in Kirkuk following the 2024 census.

Sabereen News (Kataib Hezbollah — affiliated) relayed the message and named "the Saudi entity" as the object of the deferred military response. One relay goes further: Shabab al-Islam (Ashab al-Kahf — owned) alone adds that al-Amiri "calls for targeting Saudi Arabia" — wording that appears in none of the three first-person Badr renderings. Press reports the same morning described the same restraint from other angles: the Iraqi Army warning factions against striking Saudi Arabia and affirming the decision for war belongs to the state, and a "dawn intervention" delaying the factions' response with no agent named.

No Iraqi faction has claimed responsibility for any retaliation in this window, and the strike al-Amiri describes appears in the militia material only through his own words.

In the militia space, Kataib Hezbollah's official Al-Ittijah TV announced this morning that an Islamic Resistance deadline for the Iraqi government to respond to "the Saudi-American aggression" expires tomorrow, and twelve minutes earlier carried Brigadier Ibn al-Rida saying "our armed forces have full capability to respond to any threat" through national defence industries. The deadline exists in this one channel's wording only; no other tracked outlet restates it, no constituent group is identified as having set it, and no consequence of expiry is stated.

Still on Saudi Arabia, CNN reported late on 6 August that the Kingdom is braced for attacks on its ports and airports by Iraqi factions working with the Houthis. Asaib Ahl al-Haq's official armed-group channel relayed that report by name about twenty minutes later, then after midnight carried a spokesperson for the commander of the Iraqi forces saying a security plan had begun to abort a possible attack on Saudi Arabia. In the same evening hours, Sabereen News (Kataib Hezbollah — affiliated) posted an animated explosion with a projectile bearing a Saudi-flag emblem, captioned "Severing the U.S.-Backed Saudi Hand" — the AAH channel handled Saudi Arabia in news register while the KH-affiliated outlet rendered it as a hand to be severed, and the animation claims no operation, target or timetable.

On the weapons file, Al-Nujaba TV (Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba — official) published five consecutive quotes on 6 August from MP Hamid al-Mousawi saying state sovereignty "is not divisible" and no weapon outside official institutions can stand anywhere in Iraq — conditioned on complete U.S. withdrawal by air, land and sea coinciding with the 30 September centralization date, and on enforcement first against Kurdish and Turkish armed groups in the Kurdistan Region "before targeting those who fought terrorism". In the same hour, Kataib Hezbollah's representative in Wasit, Muhammad al-Safi, told KH's Al-Ittijah TV that the aggression's objective is "the beginning of a project to withdraw the resistance's weapons" and that the government's handling of it "did not reach the required level"; Unit 10,000 (KH — affiliated) repeated the three points as a bullet list. The two factions converge in excluding Saudi Arabia from Iraq's internal security file and diverge on whether disarmament is legitimate at all. Asharq al-Awsat reported the ruling coalition warning factions to lay down weapons by the 30 September deadline.

On the domestic front, Badr-aligned Watan TV carried State of Law backing confinement of weapons to the state "in a way that preserves civil peace and spares Iraq any internal confrontation", and reported on unnamed sources that political forces have granted Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi broad authorisation for the anti-corruption campaign and further arrests. Asaib Ahl al-Haq's official armed-group channel separately reported that al-Zaidi cancelled military lanes at checkpoints and put all government convoys through inspection. Kataib Hezbollah's Al-Ittijah TV pressed the government instead, carrying al-Badri calling the Iraqi foreign minister's meeting with his Saudi counterpart "disregard for Iraqis' sacrifices" and demanding a parliamentary position — no motion, mechanism or bloc is named.

Also in the militia space, Al-Ghadeer TV (Badr Organization — official) at 22:17 and Al-Nujaba TV (Nujaba — official) nine minutes later posted near-identical wording reporting tanks deployed on the Baghdad International Airport road, each with night imagery of a tank on a flatbed in civilian traffic. Neither channel names the force, the destination or the purpose, and no other tracked channel carried the line. On the fiscal file, Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) carried Sadiqoun MP Ahmed Kain al-Khazali saying the Finance Committee has adopted an investigation into funds "spent arbitrarily", with new accounts and arrest warrants "not previously touched" expected; no referral, named subject or issued warrant is stated.
