WHAT HAPPENED

On 10 September, Nujaba Political Council head Ali al-Asadi said Nujaba had agreed with a Coordination Framework delegation to regulate weapons after an earlier proposal to restrict them to the state. Two unnamed Coordination Framework sources also placed Kataib Hezbollah and Nujaba on accepting regulation but rejecting handover, while the Middle East Council on Global Affairs placed AAH on willingness to disarm and Kataib Hezbollah on refusal. Maj. Gen. Sabah al-Numan, spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, said the end of the coalition mission on 30 September would remove the justification for weapons outside state control and accelerate high-level negotiations.
