On 5 November, Deputy Prime Minister for Services Leith al-Khazali, speaking on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media), asserted his right to resist occupation and identified American entry into Iraq as the origin of that resistance. He affirmed his AAH membership and denied that the group had attacked civilians or state institutions. He also attributed Qais al-Khazali, AAH’s secretary-general, readiness in 2017 to separate AAH from the PMF and place weapons under state control, with similar declarations in 2020, 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026.
