On 7 September, the Iraqi News Agency and Alsumaria reported that Judge Zaidan and the US embassy’s chargé d’affaires discussed support for implementing the weapons-confinement program. Alsumaria separately reported that Kataib Hezbollah and Nujaba had told the weapons committee they rejected the government deadline; it reproduced no direct faction statement or named speaker. Alsumaria also relayed a newspaper account saying the State Administration coalition ignored the weapons-confinement issue.
