WHAT HAPPENED

On 17 September, Naram-Sin Center director Haidar al-Barzanji, speaking on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official), said a political leader had told him that the first attack on Saudi Arabia was launched from Iraq. Ufuq Center head Jumaa al-Atwani, speaking on the same channel, said the Iraqi government had confirmed that Saudi Arabia possessed no evidence of an attack from Iraq and separately called such accounts inaccurate. Neither speaker presented the position as an official AAH statement.

WHY IT MATTERS

Al-Ahad TV carried mutually incompatible Iraqi accounts of an alleged cross-border attack, leaving its audience with both an Iraq-origin allegation and a challenge to Saudi attribution.
