On 18 September, Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) called weapons control an Iraqi sovereign decision and carried security expert Saif Raad saying implementation would use a comprehensive security-agency database and a committee inventory of factions incorporated into the PMF. Political analyst Abd al-Husayn al-Juraykhi, speaking on the same channel, said formal mechanisms should apply to all factions and the Peshmerga, would not weaken the resistance, and would accompany Iraq assuming responsibility for its security after the coalition mission ends on 30 September. Qasim al-Araji, security adviser to Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, separately said the weapons-control committee has no fixed completion deadline.
