Political analyst Ali Nasser, speaking on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) on 3 September, said PMF martyrs’ families had grounds to seek Faleh al-Fayyad’s accountability because he had not attended parliament. He invoked recourse to the Iraqi judiciary and said the prime minister could dismiss or replace the PMF chairman if failure were established.

“Calls by PMF martyrs’ families to hold Faleh al-Fayyad accountable were not without cause because he did not attend parliament; everyone has the right to resort to the Iraqi judiciary because it has the final say; the prime minister has the authority to dismiss or replace PMF Commission chairman Faleh al-Fayyad if his failure is established.”
