WHAT HAPPENED

On 3 September, political analyst Ibrahim al-Dahsh, speaking on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official), said the PMF must submit to law and the state and that parliament should not treat Faleh al-Fayyad’s nonattendance at a hearing as a personal decision. He said continued noncompliance permits questioning, asserted that parliament can replace the judiciary in determining criminal responsibility, and said changing the PMF chairman requires a simple parliamentary decision.

The PMF is an official institution that must be subject to law and the state… Fayyadh’s continued failure to respond allows parliament to question him… Parliament can replace the judiciary in determining criminal responsibility… Changing its chairman is linked to a simple parliamentary decision.

WHY IT MATTERS

Compared with general criticism of Fayyadh, this formulation names the institutional steps that could remove him, but the pressure has not yet become a declared parliamentary initiative.
