On 4 September, Sunna Party political-office head Abd al-Ghani al-Ghazban, speaking on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official), asserted parliament’s authority over the PMF and called for an inquiry into Faleh al-Fayyad’s failure to attend parliament. He said the PMF should receive weapons handed to the state, restructuring should begin with senior leadership, and officials should be held accountable for allegedly failing to relay warning of an attack to security headquarters.

“The Council of Representatives has the right to take all measures against anyone who does not respond to parliament, even if he is the head of the PMF; PMF chairman Faleh al-Fayyad was informed of the targeting and bears responsibility because he did not inform the security units; the PMF institution will be responsible for receiving weapons handed over to the state; with the new changes, the PMF ”
يحق لمجلس النواب اتخاذ كافة الإجراءات بحق كل من لا يستجيب الى البرلمان حتى وان كان رئيس هيئة الحشد؛ تم ابلاغ رئيس هيئة الحشد الشعبي فالح الفياض بالاستهداف والحق يقع عليه لانه لم يبلغ القطعات الامنية؛ مؤسسة الحشد الشعبي سوف يقع على عاتقها استلام الأسلحة التي ستسلم الى الدولة؛ مع التغيرات الجديدة يفترض ان تتم إعادة هيكلة الحشد الشعبي وبدءا من القيادات الأولى؛ يجب تشكيل لجنة لمعرفة أسباب امتناع فالح
