On 6 September, legal expert Abbas al-Aqabi told Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) that PMF chairman Faleh al-Fayyad had attended neither parliament nor court and criticized parliament’s delay in questioning and holding him accountable. Al-Aqabi also argued that causing an accidental death may carry imprisonment and compared that provision with Fayyad’s alleged failure to order the evacuation of PMF headquarters; neither the alleged omission nor criminal liability was independently established.

“Faleh al-Fayyad not attend parliament or go to court; there is no legal text requiring the person being questioned to attend parliament; we are surprised by parliament’s delay in questioning and holding al-Fayyad accountable; anyone who causes accidental death is punishable by imprisonment, analogous to al-Fayyad’s failure to order the evacuation of PMF headquarters.”
a formal parliamentary questioning request, a court filing, a named evacuation order or omission, or an official AAH endorsement would move this file.
