On 9 September, Ali al-Asadi, Nujaba’s Political Council head, told Al-Nujaba TV (Nujaba — official) that Nujaba had agreed with Coordination Framework leaders to organize weapons rather than surrender them. This followed KSS spokesman Kadhim al-Fartousi’s position that weapons control depended on full sovereignty. Commander-in-chief spokesman Sabah al-Numan had said the coalition’s scheduled 30 September withdrawal would remove the justification for weapons outside state institutions.
