WHAT HAPPENED

On 6 October, MP Falih al-Khazali, head of the Muntasirun bloc (KSS — parliamentary bloc), demanded restoration of PMF Service and Retirement Law No. 40 of 2016 to the Commission’s previously submitted form, without deletions or substitutions, and alleged that the government had changed it. Sabereen News (KH — affiliated/aligned media) also carried MP Alaa al-Haidari’s proposal to delete and amend provisions and alleged removal of retroactive effect from 13 June 2014, disaster-response duties, expanded special leave, the volunteer-service department, the intellectual-counterterrorism department, the contracts directorate and the military appeals court. Former Hikma Movement MP Hassan Fadum, speaking on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media), separately said the Staff College and al-Muhandis Company might have been removed and asserted that the pension bill had reached parliament.
