On 20 September, PressTV quoted Iraqi legislator Mohammed al-Moussawi rejecting a 30 September deadline for restricting all weapons to state control and defending resistance weapons as serving counterterrorism, sovereignty and stability. Shafaq News reported that National State Forces Alliance Hadi al-Amiri al-Hakim called weapons outside state control an Iraqi constitutional issue to be handled through Iraqi mechanisms and timing. Iraqi officials have also presented different formulas: commander-in-chief spokesman Sabah al-Numan said justification for armed action outside state authority ends on 30 September, while security adviser Qasim al-Araji said there is no fixed period for completing weapons control.
