On 26 September, Qais al-Khazali’s media office (AAH — official) published the AAH secretary-general’s rejection of what he called a land, sea and air siege of Iran, saying Iraq was participating in it. Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official), Al-Ghadeer TV (Badr Organization — official) and iNEWS (KSS — affiliated) carried his remarks, including his appeal to the public, political forces, parliament and government to take a unified position on lifting the Iranian-flight restrictions. Al Jazeera separately reported suspensions of Iran flights at four Iraqi airports; Khazali’s description of Iraq as participating in a wider siege remains his characterization.
