On 28 September, Sheikh Hussein al-Saidi, Nujaba’s Executive Council deputy chairman, asked Najaf airport sit-in participants to leave after unnamed parties told him the airport would open. He said they would return “bigger and angry” if it did not; Sabereen News (KH — affiliated) carried his words before Shabab al-Islam (Ashab al-Kahf — owned, non-official) posted the same text. Protest coverage also carried a Najaf statement demanding immediate cancellation of the Iranian-flight restriction across Iraqi airports, a report of a Maysan protest, and Najaf protesters’ chants against the Coordination Framework.
