On 5 November, Ashab al-Kahf’s official armed group channel published a statement calling for reconsideration of the current PMF law amendments to guarantee fighters’ legitimate rights and preserve their dignity and status. The statement was republished by Shabab al-Islam (Ashab al-Kahf — owned/non-official media), Jehad Brothers Team (Nujaba — affiliated/aligned media) and Unit 10,000 (KH — affiliated/aligned media). Al-Nujaba TV (Nujaba — official owned media) subsequently carried a PMF Brigade 12 deputy commander’s appeal to parliament’s Security and Defence Committee and other decision-makers to address provisions removed from the original law, invoking fighters’ sacrifices since 2014.

“The amendments to the PMF law in its current form do not rise to the level of the sacrifices of the fighters, the martyrs and the wounded.”
