On 22 October, Al-Kornet al-Kata'ibi (KSS — affiliated/aligned media) relayed KSS secretary-general Abu Alaa al-Walai’s declaration of volunteering as a soldier under Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi and placing KSS under his banner. Walai explicitly recalled making the personal volunteering declaration seven years earlier and described KSS as a resistance faction with a brigade within the PMF.
