WHAT HAPPENED

On 6 September, Al-Asas Parliamentary Bloc head Alaa al-Haidari told Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) that parliament was ready to pass the PMF law smoothly once it arrived. He preferred “regulating” weapons to “restricting” them, said regulation must apply to everyone and reported an agreement to include factions in the Kurdistan Region.

Parliament is ready to pass the PMF law smoothly if it arrives; restricting weapons is an emergency term and regulating them is better; weapons regulation must include everyone; we received word of an agreement to include factions in the Kurdistan Region in weapons regulation.
