The US Treasury imposed sanctions on 10 September against nine Iraqi nationals and two Iraq-based companies as part of a wider package concerning networks linked to Kataib Hezbollah and Lebanese Hezbollah across Iraq, Lebanon, the UAE and Turkey. The Iraqi designees included Majid Ali Akbar Namdar al-Mandalawi and Abdulhasan Ali Akbar Namdar al-Mandalawi, brothers of politician Mohsen al-Mandalawi. Treasury said Operation Economic Outcast addresses financing, money laundering and assistance with Iranian sanctions evasion; those allegations remain Treasury’s attribution.
