On 12 October, Parliamentary Security and Defence Committee member Khalid Sido said all MPs would work to pass the PMF law to guarantee personnel’s rights and entitlements, in remarks carried by Al-Nujaba TV (Nujaba — official owned media). Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media) carried his account that the cabinet had not formally sent the bill to parliament, that structure and service-and-retirement provisions had been combined into one law, and that it should include compulsory retirement at 60. He also said he had not encountered pressure to prevent legislation, would not permit interference, supported passage, and regarded the reasons for delay as unclear.
