Later, Al-Ittijah TV (KH — official) carried former MP Raed al-Maliki’s argument that Iraq should not celebrate that date as “Sovereignty Day” if its government implemented travel and civil-aviation restrictions in compliance with Washington. He said any celebration could instead be limited to the coalition mission’s end and foreign-force withdrawal, if confirmed.
