On 7 October, Al-Nujaba TV (Nujaba — official owned media) attributed to MP Shaima al-Fatlawi a categorical rejection of the dollar-rate increase and a demand that the Finance Ministry reconsider it; MP Saba al-Saadi held the finance minister and Central Bank governor responsible for collapsing confidence in the dinar and said they would face parliamentary interrogation. Sadiqoun MP Ahmad al-Musawi (AAH — parliamentary bloc), quoted by Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media), demanded immediate government measures to control the exchange rate and rising goods prices. KH- and KSS-linked outlets also published claims of wholesale-market paralysis and toy-shop sales stoppages, while Unit 10,000 (KH — affiliated/aligned media) alleged that advance information about the rate decision enabled dollar hoarding.
