WHAT HAPPENED

On 7 September, Sadiqoun General Council member Amal al-Shuwaili told Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) that the PMF law would provide full legal entitlements, parity with other security personnel, employment and family stability, a defined structure, pensions and martyrs’ rights. She said Sadiqoun’s parliamentary mobilization was continuing and asserted that all Coordination Framework parties agreed on passing the law soon. Political analyst Muhammad al-Husseini, speaking separately on the channel, said political interference and external pressure had previously blocked the law and argued that it would institutionalize the PMF, grant personnel rights, remove political interference and attach the force to the security services.

  1. Al-Ahad TVAAH — official08 Sept, 01:36

The PMF law was previously blocked because of political interference and external pressure; the law would institutionalize the PMF and grant rights to its personnel; its most important benefits are removing political interference and attaching the PMF to the security services.

  2. Al-Ahad TVAAH — official08 Sept, 01:38

Passing the law would grant PMF members all legal rights and entitlements; it would provide stability in their employment, families and circumstances; it would create a clear structure, pensions and martyrs’ rights; the Sadiqoun bloc considers passage a major responsibility and parliamentary mobilization is continuing; all Coordination Framework parties agree on legislating it soon.

WHY IT MATTERS

The two lines converge on strengthening the PMF through legislation but place different weight on personnel entitlements and the force’s relationship with formal security institutions.
