WHAT HAPPENED

On 3 September, political researcher Imad al-Masafir, speaking on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official), said resistance factions target Americans rather than regional states and that their weapons form part of international deterrence. Writer and political researcher Abbas al-Yasiri, appearing on the same programme, cited a proposal to freeze faction weapons temporarily, described regulation as a step toward state control and said factions would not surrender their weapons if the United States breached the withdrawal agreement.

There is a proposal to freeze faction weapons for a certain period; regulating weapons is the beginning of restricting them to the state; the factions will not surrender their weapons if America breaches the withdrawal agreement.

  2. Al-Ahad TVAAH — official03 Sept, 21:56

The weapons of the resistance factions form part of international deterrence; the factions target Americans, not the countries of the region.

سلاح فصائل المقاومة يشكل جزءا من الردع الدولي؛ الفصائل تستهدف الأمريكان وليس دول المنطقة

WHY IT MATTERS

The two guests aligned on retaining an armed option against the United States but diverged over whether weapons regulation can begin before complete disarmament.
