On 21 September, Sadiqoun MP Qaisar al-Jourani said the AAH bloc had collected more than 60 signatures to question the oil minister, and Sadiqoun bloc head MP Uday Awad said questioning would proceed because the minister’s answers were unsatisfactory. iNEWS (KSS — affiliated) carried parliamentary recommendations to reconsider the fuel-price increase, restore subsidized supplies to farmers, set a timetable for petroleum-product self-sufficiency, report production, imports, consumption, costs, stocks and provincial allocations, prevent shortages, tighten depot-to-station oversight, review senior ministry personnel and Kurdistan kerosene allocations, and reconsider hydrogenation contracts while removing underperforming companies. Watan TV (Badr Organization — affiliated) carried MP Mahdi Taqi al-Amirli’s allegation that the petrol crisis was fabricated to inflame the street and attributed to Parliament Speaker Haibat al-Halbousi the criticism that an oil-producing country should not suffer a fuel crisis or invoke the Strait of Hormuz as an excuse.

The divergence identifies separate pressure tracks within the same fuel dispute: parliamentary sanction against the minister, intervention in staffing and contracts, and an allegation that the shortage was manufactured.
