WHAT HAPPENED

Sadiqoun MPs on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) called passage of the PMF law obligatory and overdue, urged the government to send it to parliament and said Qais al-Khazali (AAH — secretary-general) had directed its approval. On the same channel, Qusay Abbas al-Shabki (Badr Organization — parliamentary bloc) said Badr had requested submission of the PMF retirement law, acknowledged that the previous bill was withdrawn because of internal disagreements and argued that weapons regulation should include the Peshmerga rather than focus only on the factions.

WHY IT MATTERS

The actors aligned on formal PMF legislation but did not give it equal framing: AAH concentrated on immediate passage, whereas Badr paired support with unresolved disputes and demands that weapons rules extend beyond the factions.
