Iraq's oil exports have fallen 75% to 1.75 million barrels per day with the Strait of Hormuz closed, and Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani said the crisis exposes the vulnerabilities of Iraq's oil exports. The minister said the Basra-Haditha pipeline will be operational soon, that the Basra-Kurdistan Region line has been rehabilitated to boost exports, and that talks are underway to raise the Kurdistan oil quota. The ministry also activated the Kirkuk field development contract with BP and agreed to compensate oil companies for damages, and an MP said parliament will investigate rising gasoline prices in the Kurdistan Region.

Still on the economy, Lebanon is inspecting facilities for Iraqi fuel oil transit through Syria, the overland route for product that does not pass Hormuz, while the freight cost of the sea route showed in India's Reliance paying a record 25 million dollars to lift Iraqi crude.

On the security file, Iraqi forces dismantled a network allegedly planning drone attacks and seized drones from an armed cell in Babil, and the army chief dissolved East Tigris Operations Command. A Shiite official cut the other way, saying Iraq's security needs an "auxiliary force" until US troops fully withdraw, a formulation that runs against the government's disarmament line.

Desk visual review of the accompanying image found no unit markings or geolocatable features and no PMF official channel is observed carrying the claim in this window, so neither the unit nor the location is confirmed; the militia digest published beside this one has the detail.

On the domestic front, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani relayed messages between Prime Minister al-Zaidi and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, described as paving the way for a Damascus visit; al-Zaidi discussed bilateral ties and regional developments with French President Emmanuel Macron, and the same call was reported as covering regional tensions and the coalition withdrawal. The Saudi intelligence chief's renewed Riyadh invitation to the prime minister, delivered in Baghdad, remains open.

In the militia space, the networks split openly on whether Iraqi factions may strike Saudi Arabia. Watan TV (Badr Organization — affiliated) carried al-Kaabi saying diplomacy with Riyadh is ineffective and that disciplining it will come only through "an appropriate military response", under the headline "missiles are not answered except with missiles". The same evening, Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) carried two researchers on one programme minutes apart: Nawal al-Mousawi saying a military response is impossible, the factions have no right to respond and war and peace belong to the state alone, and Kamel al-Kanani saying the response to "the Saudi-American aggression" is only postponed and the weapons will stay with the factions. Al-Kanani also said the factions did not strike Saudi Arabia; there is no claim of responsibility for any strike on Saudi Arabia under an Iraqi brand, and Badr issued no organizational statement.

Al-Ahad TV went further and headlined the exchange itself, calling it the factions igniting a verbal altercation across three posts in about eighteen minutes, in which al-Kanani answered that accusing the factions of endangering the state is American discourse. The channel does not identify either speaker's factional affiliation, and no faction leadership has taken either side in its own voice.

On the domestic front, five channels across four tracked actors carried the Interior Ministry's announcement of legal action against roughly 8,000 officers and personnel, and the treatment diverged sharply. Watan TV alone named ministry spokesman Miqdad Miri and itemised the offences — bribery, embezzlement, theft, smuggling, extortion and leaking documents among them — with his assurance that the law applies regardless of rank; iNEWS (KSS — affiliated) ran a partial list, while Al-Ghadeer TV (Badr Organization — official) and Al-Nujaba TV carried the headline figure alone.

Still on the domestic front, six channels across Badr, Kataib Hezbollah, Nujaba and Ashab al-Kahf, a front name affiliated with Harakat al-Nujaba, carried the arrest of Salah al-Din planning director Duraid Hilal Shabib in near-identical wording within about thirty minutes late on 8 August, each hedged to "media sources" or "agencies". Sabereen News, Unit 10,000 (KH — affiliated) and Shabab al-Islam had already carried the detention of a Baiji refinery tanker-yard official in Tikrit over corruption allegations. Al-Ghadeer TV alone went on to describe a wide arrest campaign reaching a number of Salah al-Din officials; no channel named the arresting agency and none added a faction voice.

On the PMF file, Al-Ittijah TV (KH — official) ran six consecutive posts in five minutes on wounded Popular Mobilization Forces personnel protesting outside Iraq's Public Retirement Authority, opening with its own correspondent and then quoting five protesters naming that authority as the party delaying their entitlements and demanding payment on the same terms as Defence and Interior ministry personnel. Sabereen News published video the same morning of families of PMF martyrs and wounded demonstrating outside the National Pension Authority in Baghdad; that account rests on the caption alone, and no other tracked actor's channel is observed carrying either protest.
