Badr outlet presses judiciary to audit Sudani government contracts

Watan TV (Badr Organization — affiliated) ran two items in fourteen minutes naming the Sudani government — an MP's letter on Karbala refinery consultancy contracts and a call on the judiciary and Integrity Commission to audit files worth hundreds of billions of dollars

WHAT HAPPENED

Watan TV (Badr Organization — affiliated) posted two accountability items within fourteen minutes on the afternoon of 5 August. The first reproduced a letter from MP Jabr Muhammad Kadhim al-Mutairi to the prime minister citing a Ministry of Oil reply on a contract for 49 consultants at the Karbala refinery at 57 million dollars a year and a refinery operating contract at 18 million dollars a year, asking whether the figures are reasonable and requesting a high committee to investigate. The second carried Masoud Haider addressing the judiciary, the government and the Integrity Commission to "audit these files involving hundreds of billions of dollars in the Sudani government and stop the looting covered by laws and decisions"; the letter image carries a 2023 date, so the document is older than the post.

WHO CARRIED IT
  1. Watan TVBadr Organization — affiliated05 Aug, 16:39

Masoud Haider to the judiciary, the government and the Integrity Commission: audit these files involving hundreds of billions of dollars in the Sudani government and stop the plunder covered by laws and decisions.

مسعود حيدر للقضاء والحكومة وهيئة النزاهة : دققوا هذه الملفات بمئات المليارات من الدولارات في حكومة السوداني واوقفوا الفرهود المغطى بالقوانين والقرارات

Al-Mutairi to the head of government: two contracts with inflated amounts in the Ministry of Oil, Karbala refinery — we await the "measures" … a contract for 49 consultants at the Karbala refinery for 57 million dollars a year … are these amounts reasonable?!

WHY IT MATTERS

An affiliated outlet is putting named oil-sector contract figures and a hundreds-of-billions framing in front of the judiciary and the Integrity Commission, which is the channel through which contract and ministry decisions are reversed rather than merely criticised.
