On 11 October, Hoquq MP Saud al-Saadi (KH — parliamentary bloc) said the bloc had challenged Decision 544 raising the dollar exchange rate before the Federal Supreme Court because it violated the constitution and burdened citizens. State of Law Coalition head Nouri al-Maliki urged against using the increase to stir concern and said its success depended on addressing negative effects, protecting incomes and limiting market repercussions; he also said the government was preparing safeguards for purchasing power and market stability.
