On 11 October, Hoquq parliamentary bloc deputy head Saud al-Saadi (KH — parliamentary bloc), quoted by Al-Ittijah TV (KH — official owned media), said the bloc had submitted a Federal Supreme Court appeal against the dollar exchange-rate increase. Economic expert Abdul Rahman al-Sheikhli, speaking through Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media), said the decision had not been properly studied and employees’ purchasing power had fallen considerably. He called for stronger regulatory action against speculators and for using the increase to stimulate investment and local industries.
