On 18 September, six of 33 watched channels carried portions of a statement issued by popular marches in Yemen defending Mecca against what it called a Saudi falsehood. Shabab al-Islam (Ashab al-Kahf — owned/non-official), Jehad Brothers Team (Nujaba — affiliated) and Sabereen News (KH — affiliated) carried its commitment to continue the battle against Saudi Arabia, support the Yemeni armed forces under “blockade for blockade and escalation for escalation,” and strike Saudi mobilizations. Al-Ittijah TV (KH — official), Unit 10,000 (KH — affiliated) and Al-Ghadeer TV (Badr Organization — official) selected passages defending Yemen’s Islamic identity or rejecting the allegation concerning Mecca without carrying that complete escalation formula.
