“Opening toward Syria poses no danger to Iraq. Al-Zaidi restored Iraq to its normal position and succeeded in opening relations with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan and Syria. The Iraqi–Iranian relationship is like one body and one state. We aspire to strengthen relations with Syria, and we will not call it a “sister” state.”
