On 11 September, Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi announced that the all-Yazidi Sinjar Resistance Units would begin handing their weapons to the state and that Sinjar would come under full federal security and administrative authority. He said the authorities would regulate the status of Sinjar Resistance Units and Women’s Units personnel, guarantee their rights and integrate eligible members into Iraqi security institutions.
