On 8 October, Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media) attributed to parliamentary Economy and Trade Committee member Hamed al-Mousawi an account that Defence had been settled for Thabit al-Abbasi and Interior for Yaser al-Maliki. He also alleged pressure on Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi to deprive Azm of its ministerial entitlement, while saying the prime minister insisted on granting it.
