On 12 September, Falih al-Khazali, KSS’s Muntasirun bloc head and an MP, said Saudi Arabia was masking defeats in Yemen by accusing Iraq of attacks on Saudi oil facilities and called for a professional, transparent and public Iraqi investigation. Riyadh had told Iraqi officials on Thursday night that drones from Iraq had attacked the kingdom and that Saudi Arabia could respond. Al-Khazali separately blamed a U.S. veto on air-defense systems for weakening Iraq.
