Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) aired two consecutive segments of its programme Nisf Da'ira on the evening of 30 July. Ali al-Fatlawi, described as a leader in the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, was quoted saying "Khamis al-Khanjar calls the Popular Mobilization 'militias'". Roughly a minute later the channel carried Wa'ad al-Qaddu of the parliamentary security and defence committee saying "Khamis al-Khanjar's statements are not new and his connections are known" and "the same party that bombed the Hashd may attack al-Khanjar in the future". No al-Khanjar response and no other tracked channel carrying either segment appear in the collected material.
The dispute is over whether the PMF is a state institution or a militia — the same nomenclature question that governs the PMF law and disarmament politics — and it is now being fought by name against a specific Sunni leader on a faction's own broadcast platform.
