AAH bloc denies faction-government clash as Badr channel attacks air defence

WHAT HAPPENED

Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media) posted this evening a list of statements by Mortada Ali al-Saadi, head of the Awfiya parliamentary bloc, on the programme "Half Circle," including "there is no clash between the factions and the government," "whoever expects the faction issue to be solved by force is deluded," "we support the anti-corruption campaign and its continuation," that the bloc heard "acceptable explanations from al-Zaidi about the use of the tank in fighting corruption," that settlement with wanted persons has been legislated in parliament since the previous session, that the speaker was preparing a recommendation to dismiss the head of the Audit Bureau, that the Audit Bureau report showed only three observations on oil, and "we have no connection to the American journalist who was previously kidnapped." Within the same evening Watan TV (Badr Organization — affiliated media) posted a programme quote from al-Khafaji: "dissolve the air defence and the air force — not a shot intercepted the Saudi aviation!?" The Al-Ittijah TV broadcast of the same evening, by contrast, addressed a deadline to the government bodies demanding the factions' weapons.

WHY IT MATTERS

The same bloc that is bargaining inside parliament over settlements, the Audit Bureau and the electricity ministry is the political flank of a network whose channels are, on the same night, delegitimising the state's air arm and putting the government on a clock.
